My coffee pot has been sitting for awhile so i decided to sanitize it by running a few pots through it however?

how come there is white salty looking stuff left in the part where you put the filter? I ran it without a filter, but what is that?

I always use white vinegar to clean my Coffee Maker. Use one small bottle of the vinegar. Run it through the coffee maker. Then, run at least three pots of clear water through to rinse. Your coffee will taste so much better the next time.
